Process for Removal of MTBE and similar Contaminants from Groundwater
In line with the INNO-WATT-Programm by BMWi a process for the removal of Methyl-tert-butylether (MTBE) and other related contaminants in Groundwater is being developed.
The double-level process consists of Strip-technology with subsequent contaminant oxidisation, using ozinisation and/or hydrogen peroxide/UV (advanced-oxidation-processes, AOP).
In the currently ongoing follow-up project, a compact strip-installation in pilot-scale, so-called “Inferatorstripper”, is being developed and constructed with a cost-efficient exhaust-treatment process
For optimalisation of desorption temperature, a number of energy efficient technologies (Solar heating, Waste Heat Utilisation) are being integrated.
As a result of the project, it is expected that an innovative technical process for sustainable removal of volatile organic contaminants from groundwater will be produced.
