Photocatalytic mineralization with titanium dioxide
In the framework of a research project funded bei AIF together with BTU Cottbus a procedure for the elimination of oxygenate (MTBE, ETBE, TAEE, TBA) is being developed and tested on real groundwater. It is based on the UVA- photocatalytic ozonation with fixed titanium dioxide.
The produced catalytic effect leads to a higher yield of free OH-radicals than using both processes (photocatalytic oxidation and ozonation) in separated runs.
This new developed process results in the optimization of the destruction of additives of modern fuels.
Currently, further examinations are being made increasing the surface of titanium dioxide. Trying at the same time to decrease the radiation losses.
